way back in 2014 on a saturday afternoon i was sitting on the sofa watching horse racing on the tv, i got a phone call from my dad who had gone to fontwell race course that day and he said" ive got someone who wants to talk to you" , and he put the Legend Kevin Keegan on the phone, i was in total shock for a while, i used to be kevin keegan when i played football with my mates , now im talking to him on the phone, we spoke for about 10 minutes about allsorts, he was and is a true legend.

Kevin is my first footballing hero. 1973. He is to blame for my devotion to LFC. I still adore him. My husband met him 2 years ago at a lunch and he signed my copy of his autobiography personally for me. Will always love him.

Saw him train in Ashbourne under sir Alf for England under 21s. 1970? Got his autograph. Also Alfs, Malcom McDonald etc. the lanky one from Southampton wouldn’t sign. Can’t remember his name. He wanted to get back on The bus.

I spent a good few years in my childhood watching Keegan, Waddle, Gascoigne, Beardsley training and playing for Newcastle. Arguably the best midfield unit Newcastle ever had. Couldn't believe we sold them all around about the same year. When Keegan came back to manage us he brought so much joy back top top guy he put everything into his training to be the best version of himself..

I was working at Hexham racecourse in 1985 on Cheltenham gold cup day. Went to the packed bar to watch the big race. A ropey old colour ex rental tv was perched high on a shelf and In front of it stood KK. The picture was really poor and halfway though the race KK stood on a chair a gave it a good thump as was the way to fix dodgey tvs in them days. The picture cleared to a big cheer. The man was a true magician.

Keegan listened to and learnt from the great Bill Shankly. He hasrespect for others and is a true gentleman a rare thing in todays football

I met Kevin in the street in the 90s - Fetter Lane in London. He couldn't have been nicer - "hello" would've done, but we chatted for a good 10 minutes or so. When I got back to the office, they said "what kept you ?!" 😆

i kinda met him at ascot in 1996, i was working as a waiter serving drinks, anyway when he turned up in his fancy top hat and tails clothes, i noticed that the people he was with were all drinking champagne and other alcoholic drinks, when i asked him what he would like he said a nice pot of tea!!! the same day his team mate Terry Mcdermott who was another group of people (possibly scallywags) kept ordering rounds of drinks, budweiser to be precise!! he was obviously there to get pissed!! what a contrast!!

Puts all the nonsense about him not liking women in football into perspective. He was simply saying at the time that men's and women's football are very different and men's pundits should be male and women's pundits should be female , something I wholeheartedly agree with. In my opinion this guy is an absolute legend and a gentleman of the game.

In the early 80s he turned up at my primary school in Brick Lane, Spitalfields with 2 of his Hamburg teammates and offered to play against our school team in the playground. Everyone lined the playground to watch. This was a very deprived area of East London at the time and the kids were just so excited to meet him. I expect they still remember the day and tell their own kids about it now. He is a great man.

I’m NUFC. Kevin is just a lovely man. Coaching has moved on but we wouldn’t be where we are without him.
